We are working to narrow the "digital divide" in education.

Sharing the NextLight aims to narrow the “digital divide” in education by providing a free NextLight connection to income-qualified families. Parents, caregivers, and students can apply for a FREE income-qualified internet connection for children from pre-K through college.

Through community donations, qualifying families will have access to fast and reliable internet service, allowing their children to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. This is being done in partnership with the Longmont Community Foundation and Children, Youth, and Families.

Criteria for Families and Students

  • Must live in Longmont in a NextLight-serviceable area
  • For children from Pre-K to 12th grade, applicants must be a parent, grandparent, or designated caregiver of a qualifying student.
    • Qualifying students receive free or reduced lunch recipient or a part of a Head Start program.
  • Be a Pell Grant-eligible College or University student living independently or with a family that has 6 or more credit hours per semester.

Selected families will receive a free 100-megabit NextLight connection to their home (upload and download speed). Their free fiber modem will also include a built-in wireless router.

You will be taken to the City of Longmont’s website to apply for this offer.
